Responsibilities of an advocate in the UAE

The obligation of an advocates in Dubai to his or her client is governed by these rules.

1. Is obligated to accept briefs

Any concise in the courts or councils, or before any other expert in or before whom he plans to rehearse; will undoubtedly be acknowledged by a supporter. He should demand charges that are consistent with the expenses gathered by like-minded backers of his continued attendance at the Bar and the case's concept. Unusual circumstances may justify his rejection to accept a certain brief.

2. Do not leave the service.

A supporter should not typically refuse to serve a customer once he has agreed to do so. He can only withdraw if he has a good reason and gives the buyer reasonable and adequate notice. He may deduct any portion of the charge that has not been collected from the customer upon withdrawal.

3. He will not testify in cases in which he is a witness.

A supporter should not recognize a brief or appear in a circumstance in which he is a witness. If he has reason to believe that he will be a witness at the proper moment, he should not continue to appear for the customer. He should drop the matter without jeopardizing his client's interests.

4. Complete and honest disclosure to the client

A supporter should make all such full and straight to the point disclosures to his customer identifying with his association with the gatherings and any enthusiasm for or about the contention as are likely to influence his customer's decision in either captivating him or proceeding with the engagement at the start of his engagement and throughout its duration.

The obligation of an advocate to his or her opponents is governed by the following rules.

1. Do not engage in direct negotiations with the opposing party.

An advocate may not discuss, negotiate, or call for a resolution on the subject matter of a dispute with any party represented by an advocate unless the advocate in Dubai representing the parties does so.

2. Keep pledges that were made in good faith.

Even if not reduced to paper or enforceable under the norms of the Court, an advocate must do his utmost to follow out any legitimate promises made to the opposing party.
